Otira Valley Walk

On 21 December 2014  we walked up the fabulous Otira Valley at Arthurs Pass National Park.

Entrance to this valley is very near the top of the Pass over the  Southern Alps and main divide in the South Island of New Zealand. We had great weather but as usual in the mountains kept a close eye on the skies as it can change quickly.

December, being the first month of NZ's official summer, we expected to see the first of the alpine flowers out in full flower and we were not disappointed.

Ranunculus lyallii, NZ largest Ranuculus.
Often called Mount Cook Ranunculus or Lily

Celmisia semicordata subsp semicordata Mountain Daisy
