Godley Head Track and Defense Historic Area

This track was reopened in Mid March 2013 after being closed due to earthquake damage.

Earthquakes on 4 September 2010 and 22 February 2011 caused major devastation to Christchurch and surrounding areas. parts of these buildings are still closed to the public.

This amazing house was founded by some of the first whalers to New Zealand. The Coopers Cottage section (on the left) has foundations of Whale bone

Totara Estate - Home of NZ Frozen Meat Industry

Eight kilometres south of Oamaru is the birthplace of the NZ frozen meat industry. Totara Estate is owned by the NZ Historic Places Trust and is open daily in the summer and five days a week in the winter for visitors.

The Ship Dunedin that was fitted out with freezer equipment to take the first load of frozen meat from Dunedin to England.
