Set in the Christchurch Botanic Gardens the Festival was successful for many reasons. In previous years it has been centred in the Christ Church Cathedral in the Square but after the 22 February earthquake it is closed and is now going to be demolished. Sponsors and supporters made significant donations of funds, materials and expertise to enable displays of environmental art, colourful pop up display huts full of fantastic floral creations, the commemorative garden, spot colour in decorated bells, the wonderful hanging meadow lawn ( with Gerry and Roger) outdoor concerts and film premier of Sky Whisperers, Eyes Spy, topiary and of course the humourously decorated portaloos.
